If you are a regular listener to the podcast and want to help sustain it and further the design discourse, please consider a monthly or yearly donation by becoming a member! In addition to supporting the show, members get an exclusive monthly newsletter with recaps of the previous month’s episodes, previews of the next month’s episodes, as well as links and commentary relating to design criticism, writing, and practice.

Why memberships?

Since its inception in October 2016, Scratching the Surface has been entirely self-funded and independent. By becoming a member, you help support the ongoing production of the podcast by subsizing costs (hosting, equipment, etc) and allowing Jarrett the time and space to continue researching, recording, editing, and sharing Scratching the Surface. The podcast itself is, and always will be, free. Members want to see this show continue to exist in the world and support the ongoing dialogue around design practice, criticism, and thinking.

As a thank you, members get an exclusive monthly newsletter with behind the scenes content, episode previews, and links and commentary from former guests on design, criticism, practice, and writing, free or discounted entry to events where Jarrett is speaking, and other perks throughout the year.(In all honesty, no one should subscribe for the perks — memberships are about supporting the show).

Memberships also help support ongoing and new initiaves relating to Scratching the Surface including transcripts, new resources, and our sister site, readings.design.
